Human Eye ( Part - 1 )


As you know there are 5 sense organs.
1. Eye
2. Nose
3. Ear
4. Tongue
5. Skin
Today we talk about the eye.
The eye is the most straightforward or most complex structure. this thinking depends on how much do you interest in the eye topic.

Anybody borns, first of all, opens its eye till death. But you all think that the author is telling a lie because you close your eyes when you sleep. This is half true. To tell you the truth, we close our eyelids while sleeping.

# Eyes are ----

a. Teleoreceptor.
b. Photosensitive organ.
c. 1/5th part of the whole eye is visible from the outside and 4/5th part is on the inside in the eye orbit.
 
# First of all, we study the Accessory Structures of the Eye --

1. Eyebrows - It is an area of short hairs above each eye.

2. Eyelids - It is a shield of an eye and protects the eyeball from mechanical injury.
a. Upper movable
b. Lower immovable

3. Eyelashes - It is your eyes' first line of defence. When eyes open eyelashes catch some airborne debris, but when closed, eyelashes form an impenetrable barrier against foreign irritants.

4. Nictitating membrane [ Third eye ] - It helps to keep the eyes wet.
a. Transparent membrane
b. Vestigial in humans
c. It is also called plica semilunaris

5. Glands - It is an organ that makes and puts out hormones that do a specific job.
a. Tear gland
b. Sebaceous oil gland
1. Meibomian glands (well-developed)
2. Zeis gland ( less developed )

6. Extraocular muscles of eye = 6 ( 4 rectus + 2 oblique )
